A Sewing Workshop: Bodice Follow-up! You must have attended our Bodice Block workshop before this one.
Welcome to our Let’s Sew Workshop on how to use your bodice block you created from our previous workshoop! This workshop is perfect for those who are familiar with a sewing machine and are ready to expand their handmade wardrobe. Our workshops run through the basics in a step-by step format with our lovely and very talented teacher, Amy. By the end, you’ll have the skillsets and confidence to continue to grow your own handmade wardrobe!
This workshop requires basic sewing skills and confidence setting up your sewing machine and stitching seams.
We have a maximum of 6 people in our workshops – perfect for a personal teaching experience.
What you will learn:
– How to use your bodice block to create a shift dress
– How to add long and short sleeves to your bodice block
– How to create facing from your bodice block
– Sew a toile in Calico to perfect the fit. This will mean all the proportions will be in the correct places (long body, larger bust etc..)
– Adjustments to your shift dress and how to transfer these onto your pattern pieces
What’s included:
– Use of scissors, pins & iron
– Tea, coffee, water & biscuits!
What you need to bring:
– Calico material (approx 2 – 3m)
– Dots & crosses pattern paper (example here) or plain paper on a roll.
– Fabric pen / pencil
– Pattern master or long & short ruler
– Thread & basic sewing supplies
– Sewing machine
Sewing Machine Hire:
You can either bring your own sewing machine or you can hire one from us for the session at a cost of £10.00.
